Hot Topic Mint to Be + Rainbow Honey Pinkie Promise V-Gap

Eu sei que eu tinha prometido fazer tutoriais no mês de Agosto, mas acabei indo ao Brasil de surpresa e só voltei semana passada. Já estou filmando alguns tutorais, e no fim do mês devo ter tudo organizado pra mostrar aqui. Se tiver algum tutorial que vocês queiram que eu faça, por favor digam nos comentários, e eu farei com prazer.
I know I had promised a few tutorials for the month of August, but I ended up going to Brazil unexpectedly and only returned last week. I'm already filming a few tutorials and hopefully by the end of the mont I'll have them up. If there's anything you'd like me to show, please let me know and I'll gladly do it.

Todays' mani (literally, because I'm still wearing this on my nails) will show another skull shaped bottle polish by Hot Topic and a gorgeous glitter by Rainbow Honey.

Peacock & Short: A Combo Made in Brazil

Bom dia gente! Ainda tenho mais uma semana no Brasil, e estou curtindo muito minhas férias na beira do mar e da piscina.
Semana passada tive o prazer de conhecer pessoalmente algumas meninas daqui de Recife que só conhecia virtualmente. Fizemos um encontrinho lá na Blends Café no Shopping Recife, onde tomei um café maravilhoso e batemos muito papo sobre esmaltes.

Não aguentei nem um dia, e já usei essa bomba de glitter que ela criou justamente com as minhas cores favoritas.

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting a few fellow polish enthusiasts from Recife (my hometown in Brazil). We had a great time enjoying coffee and talking nail polish, and I left with a beautiful glitter bomb polish created by Samuely Priscila from the blog Oh My!, which happens to be in my favorite colors.

Mermaid Inverted Half Moons (31 Day Challenge: Day 18)

As unhas de hoje eu já estava planejando desde que eu comprei o Slapper da Butter London no começo do mês como presente antecipado de aniversário. Testei essa combinação na loja e fiquei apaixonada! Juntei meus dinheirinhos, e como é mês de aniversário, me dei o direito de comprar um esmalte caro: Mermaid's Dream da Deborah Lippmann.
I've been planning today's nails ever since I got myself Butter London Slapper as an early birthday gift in the beginning of the month. I tried this combo at Nordstrom's, and immediately fell in love with it. I was able to get my dollars together, and since it's my birthday this month, I splurged on an expensive nail polish: Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream.

Dia 18: Meia Lua

• Comecei com 2 camadas do Slapper da Butter London.
• Usando o próprio pincel do Mermaid's Dream, pintei as unhas deixando uma meia lua invertida na base das unhas. Usei 2 camadas.
• Terminei com uma camada de Seche Vite por que já tinha lido por aí que esse esmalte é comedor de top coat!

Day 18: Half Moons

• I started with 2 coats of Butter London Slapper.
• Using the polish's brush, I applied Mermaid's Dream leaving an inverted half moon at the base of my nails. I used 2 coats.
• I finished with a coat of Seche Vite because I read this polish was a top coat eater!

Esse estilo de unha é conhecido como meia lua invertida, francesinha invertida ou Ruffian (por que a marca Ruffian popularizou esse estilo usando em seus desfiles). 

Não preciso nem dizer como amei o Mermaid's Dream!!!! Ele é lindoooo! Que glitter diferente viu? E a cor? Perfeita. Valeu os 18 dólares.

I don't need to say how much I loved Mermaid's Dream! It's so unique and beuatiful. And the color? Perfect! It was worth the $18.

Glitter de Princesa (31 Day Challenge: Day 17)

Esse desafio me deixou maluquinha da cabeça viu gente! Acho que fiz umas 5 versões diferentes, e ainda sim não estou 100% satisfeita, mas uma hora o tempo que a gente tem acaba, e fica por isso mesmo né?
Today's challenge drove me crazy! I did around 5 different versions, and in the end I'm still not 100% satisfied. But, time ran out and I had to stick with this mani.

Dia 17: Glitter

• No dedo mindinho e no indicador eu usei 2 camadas do Café Pink da Revlon (linha Colorstay) e mergulhei o dedo no glitter avulso.
• No anelar eu passei 2 camadas do Punch Rose da Sally Hansen (linha Xtreme Wear), colei glitter hexagonal prateado e desenhei o outline de um diamante com esmalte preto.
• No dedo médio eu passei 2 camadas do Café Pink da Revlon e colei glitter hexagonal preto fazendo uma framed nail (unha com moldura).
• No dedão eu passei duas camadas do Punch Rose da Sally Hansen + 1 camada do Candy Shop da Claire's.
• Passei top coat pra finalizar (menos no mindinho e indicador).

Day 17: Glitter

• Pinkie and pointer fingers: I used two coats of Revlon Colorstay Café Pink and dipped my fingers in fine glitter.
• Ring finger: I used two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Punch Rose, glued some silver hex glitter and then outlined a diamond shape with black polish.
• Middle finger: I used two coats of Revlon Colorstay Café Pink then glued some black hex glitter to do the framed nail.
• Thumb: I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Punch Rose + 1 coat of Claire's Candy Shop.
• I finished with top coat (except on the pinkie and pointer fingers).

A foto acima foi uma das mil versões que fiz (haha), usei os mesmos esmaltes, mas fiz tudo framed nails com glitter preto. A cor dos esmaltes está bem fiel nessa última foto.
As fotos de cima são da minha mão direita, por que ando treinando minhas habilidades "desenhísticas" com a mão esquerda. Algo simples assim eu consigo fazer.
The last photo is one of the other versions I tried for this challenge. I used the same polishes, but used black hex glitter for the full framed mani. The polishes are also more color accurate on this last picture.

Vou ser boazinha e mostrar mais duas tentativas que achei que ficaram legais, mas queria fugir de usar só roxo, verde ou teal, e usar uma cor que ainda não tinha aparecido no desafio: rosa! Gostei muito da esquerda...
Here are two of the other tries which actually turned out ok, but ultimately I decided to try a color I hadn't used yet for the challenge. I really liked the one the left.

Gradiente Metálico (31 Day Challenge: Day 8)

Chegou o dia do desafio mais sem graça pra mim! Não curto esmalte metálico e para ser sincera, não tenho muitos. Os que eu tenho aqui comigo não estavam me deixando muito feliz... até fiz outra unha BEM metálica, mas acabei odiando e tirei tudo.
This is the day of the least interesting challenge, at least for me. I'm not very attracted to metallic nail polish, and to be honest, I don't even own many of them. the ones I have with me at the moment weren't cutting it... I even did a really geometric pattern, but ended up hating it so much I just had to remove and start again.


Só para eu não ficar morgadinha, resolvi roubar só um pouquinho e usar esmaltes com um acabamento de glitter metalizado. 
To give me some encouragement to actually do this mani, I decided to cheat just a little bit, and use polishes that have some texture in them but can still be considered metallic (at least by some people).

Dia 8: Unhas Metalizadas

• Usei 2 camadas do Graphite da Chanel.
• Esponjei o Silver Dazzle da MiIani do meio das unhas para cima.
• Esponjei o Graphite da Chanel bem suavemente por cima.
• Terminei com 2 camadas de top coat, uma de Seche Vite e uma do Essie Good to Go (porque o Silver Dazzle é glitter forte e ficou muito texturizado nas pontas).

Day 8: Metallic Nails

• I started with 2 coats of Chanel Graphite.
• Then I sponged Milani Silver Dazzle  on the top half of my nails.
• I sponged Chanel Graphite very lightly all over.
• I finished with 1 coat of Seche Vite and one coat of Essie Good to Go because Silver Dazzle dries pretty rough.

Polish Days: Glow in the Dark Sandwich Time!

Hoje o dia é especial porque vai ter dois posts! Já postei o desafio do dia aqui, e esse post eu já tinha preparado há algum tempo. Estou participando do Polish Days, uma iniciativa da Hannah do Polly Polish, onde uma vez por mês um grupo de blogueiras posta sobre o mesmo tema, no mesmo dia, na mesma hora.
Hi there! I have a second post today, which is super rare for me! I already posted today's challenge here, and this post has been ready for a few days. I'm participating in a super cool thing called Polish Days, where a group of bloggers post about the same theme, on the same day, at the same time, once a month.

O tema de hoje é "Sandwich", ou sanduíche. Sei que os sanduíches de glitter geralmente são feitos com esmaltes de acabamento "jelly", mas eu estava doida pra testar o meu esmalte "glow in the dark" da Claire's junto com um glitter pra ver no que dava.
Today's theme is "Sandwich". I know most glitter sandwiches are done with jelly polishes, but I was itching to try a sandwich with a glow in the dark polish. The one I got from Claire's (and already posted swatches and a gradient with it here) is pretty sheer, so I decided to go with that one.

Para esse sanduíche de glitter, eu comecei com duas camadas do Violeta da Guga, que é quase a mesma cor desse esmalte da Claire's, que já mostrei aqui sozinho e que precisa de umas 5 camadas pra fechar... Depois passei duas camadas do roxinho da Claire's, uma camada do Candy Shop da Claire's (dupe duplo do da Deborah Lippmann) e mais duas do roxinho da Claire's.
Esse esmalte glow in the dark da Claire's seca fosco, e resolvi deixar assim mesmo porque achei super interessante os glitters meio em alto relevo com acabamento fosco.
For this glitter sandwich, I started with one coat of Violeta by brazilian brand Guga, which is almost the same color as the Claire's glow in the dark polish. I then applied 2 coats of Claire's glow in the dark polish, one coat of Claire's Candy Shop, and two more coats of Claire's GID polish.
The GID polish dries semi-matte, and I decided to leave it this way. i thought it was very interesting to see the glitters sticking up a bit, and a little mattified.

Deixei a mão perto de uma lâmpada de mesa pra "carregar" o esmalte, e corri pro banheiro pra tirar a foto. O efeito glow in the dark diminui muito rapidamente, de uma foto para outra já dava pra notar a diferença no glow. Amei que deu para ver uns pontinhos coloridos no escuro, pra mim a experiência deu super certo!
I charged the glow in the dark polish by holding my hand up to a desk lamp, then ran to the bathroom where it was 100% dark, to take pictures. The GID effect fades pretty quickly on this polish, by the second picture the effect was much weaker.
The fact that you can see colorful dots on the GID picture made me very happy, and proved that this experiment worked!

Layering com Essence, Lynderella e Nfu-Oh!

Uma das coisas mais interessantes (para mim) é descobrir que esmaltes podem ser combinados para se conseguir um efeito único e bem diferente dos esmaltes que podemos simplesmente comprar. 
Estou falando da técnica de "layering", onde você usa esmaltes diferentes em camadas, criando aquele efeito bafônico! Hoje vou mostrar um layering que fiz recentemente e que amei.
One of the greatest things about owning a lot of nail polish is trying to find out which polishes go together well. I'm talking specifically about layering, which mostly involves sheer polishes. Today I have a layering I did a few weeks ago, and simply loved it!

Cyance Friction da Nerd Lacquer

Multichrome Glitter Sandwich

O esmalte de hoje já apareceu aqui no blog tempos atrás... quando minhas unhas ainda eram quadradas, minha esmaltação uma porcariazinha, e minhas cutículas andavam bem rebeldes! Nada mais justo do que re-usar e tirar fotos dignas não é?
Todays' polish has already made an appearance on this blog... in a time when my nails were square, my nail painting skills were truly sad, and mu cuticles were rebelling from not being being cut anymore! Nothing fairer than re-using the polish and taking better pictures right?

Shrapnel da Illamasqua + The Telltale Heart da Lynderella

Vou começar a semana com uma combinação que me deixou olhando para as unhas o tempo todo. 

Quando pensei em combinar essas duas cores, fiquei meio receosa, e até demorei alguns dias para me resolver de uma vez e passar nas unhas. 

Na minha opinião, a escolha de que esmalte usar por baixo dos glitters da Lynderella, é a parte mais emocionante de "ter" um Lynderella. Em vez de esconder os glitters usando uma cor de base similar, eu tento sempre destacá-los, usando uma cor de base que me ajude a ver todos os mínimos detalhes de um Lynderella.

Today's combo had my full attention for a few days, and I simply couldn't take my eyes off of my nails.

When I thought of combining these two colors, I was very hesitant, and even took a few a days to really try it out.

The funnest thing about owning a Lynderella, is getting to pick what color to layer it over. Most people simply pick a color that blends well with the glitters, but I like to bring out all the details in the Lynderella. This is why I have a such a hard time picking the base color, and in truth, why I'm taking my time in using all the Lynderellas I was able to get my hands on.

Dragon da A-England + Funny Money da Lynderella

Como as minhas cores favoritas de esmalte são azul, teal, turquesa, verde e roxo, acabo mostrando bem mais esmaltes dessas cores. E hoje tem mais dois verdes que formaram um par perfeito: o Dragon da A-England e o Funny Money da Lynderella.
My favorite nail polish colors are blue, teal, turquoise, green and purple, so I always end up showing more polishes in these colors. I have to constantly remind myself to use other colors... But today I have two more greens that ended up being perfect for each other: A-England Dragon and Lynderella Funny Money.

Skylar da Zoya + Forget You Not da Lynderella

Essa semana só teve verdinho aqui no blog, e hoje vou complementar com um azul tristinho lindo: o Skylar da Zoya.
This week I only showed green polishes, so today I have a cute grayed out blue: Zoya Skylar.

Connect the Dots da Lynderella

Os esmaltes da Lynderella são causa de bastante polêmica no mundo esmaltístico. Primeiro que é muito difícil conseguir um, e segundo que custam bem caro para uma misturinha. Esses esmaltes são tão cobiçados que certas mulheres chegam a pagar valores absurdamente caros no ebay. 
Hoje em dia o único jeito de conseguir um Lynderella é através da loja online Llarowe, que foi onde consegui o meu Connect the Dots. 
Lynderella polishes have been causing much talk in the nail polish community. First because of the availability, and second because some people have been exploiting the brand and selling polishes for really high prices on ebay.
Today, the easiest way to get a Lynderella polish is through the online store Llarowe, which was where I got my bottle o Connect the Dots.

No Medal for Chewie da NerdLacquer

Os esmaltes de marcas "indie" (leia-se misturinhas que estão sendo vendidas) estão fazendo o maior sucesso aqui nos Estados Unidos. O negócio tá tão sério por aqui que as meninas estão estocando suas lojinhas virtuais, e em coisa de minutos os esmaltes estão ficando esgotados. Um exemplo é o Floam, que eu já mostrei aqui.
Indie polishes are the current craze in the US right now. The whole thing is a little out of control, because the stores will open and then everything is sold out in minutes. An example of an Indie polish is Floam, which I posted about here.


Antes de me mudar eu consegui encomendar dois esmaltes da NerdLacquer pela loja na etsy. Comprei o No Medal for Chewie por que amo Star Wars, e o Cyance Friction que é um aqua lindo. Hoje vou mostrar o No Medal for Chewie.
I was very lucky to be able to order 2 polishes from NerdLacquer before I moved to Florida. I bought No Medal for Chewie because I love Star Wars, and Cyance Friction. Today I have No Medal for Chewie to show you guys.

Floam da Nail-Venturous

Hoje eu tenho um esmaltinho super lindo para mostrar para vocês. Primeiro, deixa eu falar que estou pulando de alegria que consegui meu vidrinho dessa misturinha!!!! 
Sim, o esmalte de hoje é uma misturinha (mais conhecido como "franken" ou "franken polish" nas gringas) super inusitada.

Whimsical da Revlon

Eu nunca me interessei muito pelo Glitter In The Air da Deborah Lippmann, mas quando a Revlon lançou o dupe Whimsical que custava quase um quarto do preço do GITA, resolvi comprar um para ter na minha coleção.
I was never really interested in Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in the Air, but when Revlon launched the dupe Whimsical at almost 1/4 of the GITA price, I decided to get one.


O Whimsical demorou pra chegar no Havaí, e quando chegou comprei logo 4 vidrinhos (um pra mim e 3 para troquinhas que eu estava fazendo).
Whimsical took its sweet time to get to Hawaii, but when I finally spotted it at CVS, I got 4 bottles. 1 for me, and 3 for swaps with girls from Brazil.

Coleção Nicki Minaj da O.P.I.

A nova coleção da O.P.I. em parceria com a cantora Nicki Minaj acabou de ser lançada, e já está nas lojas. A coleção consiste de seis cores, mas como comprei o mini set com quatro, não vou mostrar o Metallic 4 Life (pedaços de glitter grafite) nem o Super Bass Shatter (craquelado metálico roxo).


A coleção foi desenvolvida com a cantora, e baseada nos seu novo álbum Pink Friday. O estilo bem diferente da cantora também influenciou bastante essa coleção.

**The new collection by OPI in partnership with singer Nicki Minaj was just released, and can already be found in stores. The collection is made up of 6 colors, but I got the mini set, so I won't show Metallic 4 Life or Super Bass Shatter.
The singer had a hand in the development of the collection, which was based in her newest album called Pink Friday. Her "unique" dressing style also influenced the way the colors and finishes turned out.
