I really hate zebra, leopard and similar prints on me, but I often love it on other people. I had a really tough time deciding which animal print I would do on my nails. So many fish have bright colors and interesting prints, that I ended up looking for inspiration underwater. Most of you don't know this, but I used to work at the only aquarium in Honolulu. I worked there for 3 years, and only left because I had my son and decided to become a full time mom until he is old enough to go to pre-school. I've always loved fish, but after working at an aquarium, I learned to admire them even more.

Dia 13: Estampa Animal
Day 13: Animal Print
  • I started with one coat of the following polishes on each finger: Orly Melt Your Popsicle on my pinky and middle fingers, China Glaze Celtic Sun on my thumb and ring fingers, and China Glaze Sun Worshiper on my pointer finger.
  • I then did a different gradient on each nail. Here are all the polishes I used: China Glaze Sun WorshiperOrly Melt Your Popsicle, Sinful Colors Summer Peach, China Glaze Celtic SunChina Glaze In the Lime Light, Hot Topic Bright Night (Blackheart line).
  • The actual pattern I freehanded using a thin brush and Butter London Slapper. On my thumb I also used Color Club Pucci-licious.
  • For the outline I used the same thin brush and Wet'n'wild Black Créme.
  • I finished with one coat of Essie Good to Go.

I almost forgot to say which fish this is! This beautiful, bold, bright fish is called Mandarin Fish, and it lives in the ocean.
I loved this picture with the computer in the background, it totally looks like I have an aquarium with the actual fish inside it!

Beijos.
I'll confess I did this mani 2 days ago, so I could actually wear it for a couple of days. After the violet nails challenge, I regretted not doing this for my favorite designs. It's a bummer not being able to wear some of this cool stuff for more than one day... I loved the gradient on my thumb btw, and I'll probably do it on all my nails once the challenge is over.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and I'll see you tomorrow.
